DR. Cirien Saadeh Assistant to the Executive Director
Cirien (pronounced like Serene) is a journalist and educator who works at the intersections of journalism, social movements, experiential education, and sustainability. Trained as a community organizer, she has written for local, national, and international publications, and is committed to using journalism as a tool in the pursuit of justice for all historically disenfranchised communities.
Most recently she served as Executive Director for The UpTake, a community news organization. She currently holds a position as Associate Faculty at Prescott College where she received her PhD in Sustainability Education in 2019.
Cirien feels that there is much work to be done to make the Mississippi River more accessible to recreational users from diverse communities across the Twin Cities region. She is hopeful that greater accessibility will inspire more appreciation for this unique resource, and will expand care and commitment to the health and sustainability of the watershed.
