Support Friends of Pool 2 –
For over 12 years, Friends of Pool 2 has hosted fall fundraising event, an online auction to raise awareness and funds for keeping the Mississippi River’s Pool 2 safe, clean, and navigable. We are dedicated to maintaining open and safe waterways, protecting fragile shorelines and backwaters, and addressing environmental challenges like excess sediment that threaten the health of the river system, including Pool 2 and Lake Pepin. We actively support research and innovative solutions to slow the spread of invasive species such as carp and zebra mussels. In the past, we have voiced community concerns to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regarding the future of the Minneapolis Locks and Dams. Now, we are preparing to collaborate with the DNR and National Park Service on potential new beaches and campsites in Pool 2, enhancing public access and recreation. Your support during our fall fundraiser directly supports critical initiatives, including water safety programs, cleanup projects, environmental research, and educational outreach. While grants help us extend our impact, many require matching funds—making your support essential. Past contributions have allowed us to secure grants like the No Child Left Inside program, which helped fund our successful Kids Reach the River campaign. However, many opportunities require us to match 100% of the grant funding, making individual donations even more vital. Friends of Pool 2 also believes that policymakers and decision-makers need firsthand experiences on the river—not just views from bike paths or bridges. Too often, those shaping environmental and infrastructure policies have never truly experienced the Mississippi River up close. By fostering these connections, we advocate for sustainable policies that protect and enhance Pool 2 for generations to come. Join us in making a difference! Renew your membership or donate today to support our mission. Every contribution—big or small—helps protect this vital resource. Get Involved:
